ABOUT ME

Over the years, I have discovered that art is my primary tool for meaning making; it is how I relate and engage with the world. Coming into this realization has informed my choice to pursue theatre as a career. In a world that feels like it is falling apart, theatre specifically provides a space for processing, analyzing, and coping with the current state of affairs. Theatre took over my life almost a decade ago. I began taking acting classes and performing in plays in my freshman year of high school. In college, I began learning about theatre that diverged from the mainstream: like devised theatre, experimental theatre, and socially conscious theatre.

This was the turning point for me, and I was exposed to more theatre artists that I wanted to emulate my work after. Throughout college, some of the best advice I have received was “be able to do more than just acting.” I began testing the waters in other fields of theatre, like stage management, writing, and assistant directing. Writing, specifically, had the biggest impact on my craft. I hope that where ever life takes me, it'll allow me to create authentic, purposeful and beautiful Black art.
